Pyx Pulse 18 SEP 2025
Your insider look at global trade & sustainability transparency breakthroughs, including the UN Transparency Protocol.
Transparency Pressures are Rising. Who’s ready?
From digital ID rollouts in Côte d’Ivoire to tariffs creating demand for certificates of origin in Thailand, trade regulations are shifting fast. Near future market access will rely on trusted, verifiable data.
In our latest Pyx blog, we look at global policy shifts and UNTP momentum, covering:
How compliance complexity is shaping trade policy
The need to provide sustainability for EU market access
Examples of UN Transparency Protocol (UNTP) momentum

In Brief:
🌱 Cocoa under pressure: Côte d’Ivoire’s long-running digital ID program for farmers is now being tested against the EU’s incoming deforestation-free import rules (due December 2025). It could boost traceability at scale — but smaller firms warn the compliance costs might put them out of business.
♻️ Circular passport in textiles: The Global Circular Network is piloting a washable RFID product passport, aligned with UNTP. A verifiable leap for circular trade.
📚 Academic validation: A new peer-reviewed study in Measurement sets out a framework for sustainable supply chains — built on UNTP foundations.

UN/CEFACT Global Trust Registry project:
Practical progress on shared definitions
The Global Trust Registry (GTR) project is a community-led initiative developing a UN-hosted trust registry data model, governance framework, and pilot implementation. In its early stages, it’s honing in on value propositions and definitions.
Contributors are aligning on what “authoritative registration” means for businesses and organisations i.e. not just being able to present an identifier, but being able to prove a legally bound registration in a nation state of the UN. Why? Authoritative registration provides a trustworthy, legal basis for recognition and value exchange, reducing risk and enabling integration with other trust frameworks.

“One of the most complete standardizing initiatives to date for supply chain traceability and sustainability reporting.”
That’s how The Open Working Group describes the UN Transparency Protocol, and we're here for it. They wrote: "Greenwashing is no longer just a reputational risk—it’s a systemic issue… UNTP directly addresses this crisis.” Agreed.
